Nopal Nutri Fodder-Mexico is the first company in the world, specialized in producing Nopal-cactus fodder and establishing sustainable livestock production systems based on the cultivation of Nopal-cactus Opuntia to feed livestock.
Our mission:
Our mission is to produce abundant and nutrient-rich Nopal-cactus fodder to feed livestock in arid and semi-arid regions of the world that suffer from water scarcity.
Promoting Regenerative Agriculture:
As a sustainable business, Nopal Nutri Fodder will promote the preservation of the natural environment, restoring unproductive lands in arid areas of Mexico and other parts of the wold while improving the living conditions of families dedicated to growing Nopal-cactus.
About the Nopal-cactus fodder

An excellent alternative to feed beef and dairy cattle, sheep, and other ruminant livestock in arid and semi-arid regions of the world.
The Nopal-cactus fodder is an innovative nutrient-rich livestock feed made from the mature leaves or racquets of the Nopal-cactus plant. Following a unique fermentation method developed in Mexico, the racquets are minimally processed in the livestock farms to increase their protein content.
The Nopal-cactus Opuntia is native to Mexico. For 6,000 years, this plant and its fruits have been consumed by ancient indigenous people from Mexico and Mesoamerica.
This delicious superfood is currently an important staple food of Mexican cuisine, but it is also an excellent feed for livestock.
Why the protein enrichment of Nopal-cactus?

The protein enrichment of the Nopal-cactus is a technology developed in Mexico to increase the protein content of raw Nopal-cactus.
In addition to providing hydration, the Nopal-cactus leaves are packed with minerals, fibre, antioxidants and vitamins.
Nopal-cactus contains potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin C, chlorophyll and broad composition of amino acids. However, raw Nopal-cactus leaves provide only 4-5% of protein.
The protein enrichment process is necessary to transform Nopal-cactus into a nutrient-rich fodder with more than 25% of protein content.
Nutritional benefits for ruminant livestock

We have identified the best spineless Nopal-cactus varieties to produce high-quality fodder.
Scientific research has shown that the addition of Nopal-cactus fodder to the diet of ruminant livestock improves rumen fermentation and digestibility, increasing the average daily gain of growing ruminants.
In addition to providing protein, minerals, fibre, antioxidants, vitamins and chlorophyll, the Nopal-cactus fodder provides excellent hydration.
Regarding palatability, the experience and some experiments have shown that ruminant livestock prefers to consume juicy Nopal-cactus fodder rather than of other conventional fodders.
For years, Nopal-cactus fodder has been used successfully to feed cattle, sheep, and goats in arid and semi-arid regions of Mexico.
What is a sustainable livestock production system?

A sustainable Nopal-cactus livestock production system is a ruminant livestock farm equipped with a Nopal-cactus plantation used to produce high-quality fodder. The Nopal-cactus fodder is used to feed sheep, cattle or other ruminant animals.
In a sustainable Nopal-cactus livestock farm, at least 60% of the livestock’s daily diet is based on Nopal-cactus fodder.
Nopal-cactus plantations use little or no irrigation water, and they are fertilized with organic manure from the farm’s livestock.
Nopal Nutri Fodder promotes Regenerative Agriculture

Nopal-cactus plantations are beneficial for the environment.
Scientific research has shown that reforestation with nopal cactus plants helps to improve the quality of unproductive lands in arid and semi-arid regions. In addition to absorbing large amounts of carbon dioxide from the environment, the Nopal-cactus plantations can rehabilitate degraded soil, also helping to recover biodiversity.
The Nopal-cactus is a drought-tolerant and water-efficient plant that produces abundant fodder of excellent nutritional quality and good palatability, even in soils with low fertility and little rainfall.

Nopal-cactus plantations in Mexico
A strategic solution to secure a supply of fodder and livestock for countries in arid and semi-arid regions.
Nopal Nutri Fodder of Mexico offers an excellent opportunity to invest in Mexico to establish sustainable livestock production systems and Nopal-cactus plantations.
Human population growth, climate changes, prolonged droughts and desertification are among the issues faced by many countries today. In particular, it is becoming increasingly difficult for countries in arid and semi-arid regions to obtain enough forage or fodder to feed their livestock.
Many dairy and meat companies from countries that suffer from water scarcity or a lack of fertile farmland will need to explore new options to secure feed for their livestock.
Our strategic options:
Nopal Nutri Fodder of Mexico offers innovative solutions to secure a sufficient supply of high-quality fodder for beef and dairy cattle, sheep, and other ruminant livestock in arid and semi-arid regions of the world
1. Establishment of Nopal-cactus plantations in any country.
Some countries suffer from water scarcity but have enough agricultural land with appropriate climatic conditions to grow Nopal-cactus. In this case, our company can help livestock companies worldwide to establish Nopal-cactus plantations in their countries.

2. Establishment of Nopal-cactus plantations in Mexico, owned by a foreign livestock company.
Some countries suffer from adverse climatic conditions or a lack of fertile farmland. In this situation, our company can help livestock companies worldwide to establish and manage their own Nopal-cactus plantations in Mexico.
In this case, the farmland, the Nopal-cactus plantations, and all the fodder production will be owned by the livestock investing company.
3. Establishment of a complete livestock production system in Mexico, owned by a foreign livestock company.
This option is a competitive solution to produce Nopal-cactus fodder and ruminant livestock in Mexico destined for countries suffering from water scarcity or a lack of fertile farmland. For this situation, our company can help livestock companies worldwide to establish and manage sustainable livestock farms equipped with Nopal-cactus plantations in Mexico.
For this option, the farmland, the Nopal-cactus plantations, the fodder production, and all the livestock production will be owned by the livestock investing company.
Investing in low-cost farmland in Mexico
Renting agricultural land is an available option. However, acquiring low-cost and unproductive agricultural land in Mexico to establish Nopal-cactus plantations is an excellent investment option because its market value will increase considerably as the land becomes productive in a short time.
The Nopal-cactus plantations produce abundant leaves or racquets throughout the year, allowing quick recovery of the invested capital.
A one-hectare (2.47 acres) plantation contains approximately 30,000 Nopal-cactus trees. This plantation can produce between 400 and 500 metric tons of Nopal-cactus fodder per year for 10-15 years with little or no irrigation water.
